our project

The rate of women studying science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields in Jordan is double the rate in the United States. Our research project aims to understand why Jordanian universities are so successful at attracting female students to STEM fields. The focus of our research will be centered around the school of engineering.

With the help of engineering faculty at the University of Jordan in Amman, we will conduct surveys and interviews of university students. We hope this research will help us to understand what draws Jordanian women to the field of engineering.

While we conduct our research, we will be living in Amman. We're excited for many new adventures and for the knowledge that this summer will bring.

By the end of our month in Amman, we hope to have a new understanding of women’s preparation, attitude, and interest in pursuing STEM fields at the university level in Jordan.

It should be a fun project and we hope you'll join us for the ride. You can keep up with us via this website. Feel free to contact us with questions/comments. We really encourage your engagement throughout our research. Whether you want to chat about women in STEM or have a recommendation for the best cafe in Amman, please don't hesistate to send us an email.

Thank you,

Fareeda, Kate, and Samantha
